Beta Gamma Sigma (BGS) is a scholastic honour society of business students that was founded at three universities in 1913 in the USA. The BGS mission is to encourage and honour academic achievement in the study of business, foster personal and professional excellence, advance the values of the Society, and serve its lifelong members. The Society’s name is composed of three letters of the Greek alphabet which signify honour (Β – Bebaeos), wisdom (Γ – Gnosis), and earnestness (Σ – Spoude). Since 1921, the inauguration of new chapters has been restricted to business schools which are accredited members of AACSB International.
As the first school in the region to do so, the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business (SEB LU) decided to offer its best students and graduates the same opportunities as are provided to students of the top business schools around the world. Accordingly, in 2012 we established our own Beta Gamma Sigma Chapter (named “Klub BGS EF”). Membership in BGS is the highest recognition a business student anywhere in the world can receive at a school accredited by AACSB International.
BGS membership is lifelong. Beta Gamma Sigma designation can set you apart from the crowd. It conveys academic excellence and a commitment to high principles and superior achievement throughout your lifetime. Corporate recruiters actively seek individuals who have been elected to membership in Beta Gamma Sigma. Long after graduation, Society membership will provide benefits to you and your professional life. Programs such as the BGS CareerCentral job board, On-Line Community and the Alumni Network offer alumni members opportunities to stay connected and benefit from their commitment to academic excellence.
BGS membership is by invitation only.
Invited members are nominated once a year based on criteria, for membership in the Beta Gamma Sigma Society that are set according to the BGS rules. Membership certificates are awarded at an induction ceremony.
