Explore effective leadership and what it means to be a good leader

Date: 15.2, 22.2, 1.3 and 8.3. 2022

Did you just take over a new leadership position, or are you about to? Do you want to understand yourself better and learn what kind of leader are you? If the answer is yes, then this course is for you!

In this 4-week course, we look to answer the following questions:

  • What are the main leadership tasks?
  • How to become a good leader?
  • What is the best leadership style?
  • How to communicate effectively?
  • How to manage your time effectively?

By deepening into sources of power and influence, and exploring how perception shapes behaviour, you will be able to address important issues more effectively. This course will help you discover more about yourself and others as we explore different leadership styles.

What you will learn?
  • Being a role model
  • Build trust and communicate effectively in a way that establishes authority as a leader
  • Boost your communication power by adding key verbal and non-verbal communications skills
  • Encourgage collaboration
  • Establish a clear vision and concrete goals, develop simple plans, and delegate effectively to get them done
  • Make an impact

Do you think leadership is just a set of skills? And that you can learn it by analyzing famous leaders and their leadership styles? Theory and leadership frameworks are just the beginning. You have to start with yourself and reach within, understand yourself and explore your own leadership style. You need to have good communication skills, be able to give and receive feedback as well as manage your time effectively. Only then you can become a good and authentic leader.

The workshop will be divided into 4 sessions:

Week 1: What are the major tasks of a leader?

  • Leadership is a complex discipline. In this session, we will discuss what leadership is about and what it intends to achieve. After the session, you should be aware of the major tasks of a leader.

Week 2: What is critical to success in communication?

  • Communication is another big field that needs to be mastered. We will not touch the how in this session which would be a longer practical exercise. This session intends to strengthen your understanding of some psychological basics that will enable you to be more precise in communication.
  • How to perform feedback effectively? Feedback is essential. Very often one can observe that the person providing feedback ends up in a defensive or not intended situation. This can be avoided if you follow some simple rules on how to provide feedback.

Week 3: What are the basics of time management?

  • As a leader, you have to be able to manage yourself within the time available. This session will give you some practical tips on how to organize your day.

Week 4: What is the best leadership style?

  • The ultimate question: How do I lead effectively?
